Like many little girls, I dreamed of one day meeting my husband, my partner for life. God answered that prayer when He brought Brian into my life. Together we dreamed of becoming parents, but that dream led us through infertility and IVF before we were finally blessed with our son, Brooks.

Just before Brian deployed, we took one last trip together to St. Kitts. It was there that the idea for Love in the Meanwhile was born. I envisioned it as a place to document our life as a military family and all of the “meanwhiles” that come with it. The waiting. The homecomings. The unexpected changes. The ordinary moments that end up meaning the most.

I never imagined that one of those meanwhiles would be cancer.

Between becoming a first-time mom, returning to work, and preparing for Brian’s deployment, life was full. I kept telling myself I’d start writing when things settled down. Then, just months later, I was diagnosed with colorectal cancer.

Suddenly, this space became something different than I had originally imagined. It became a place to document not only military life, but also infertility, motherhood, cancer, faith, and all the unexpected chapters that have shaped our family’s story.

I’m writing because I don’t want to forget what God is doing in the middle of it all. And if my story encourages even one person to keep hoping when life doesn’t go according to plan, then sharing it will be worth it.

Whether you’re here because of infertility, military life, motherhood, cancer, or simply because life has taken you somewhere you never expected, I’m so glad you’re here. My prayer is that you’ll leave knowing there is still hope to be found in the meanwhile.
